The Sea Ranch Lodge is one of those places that really doesn’t need much to make a wedding beautiful. With sweeping Pacific Ocean views, open coastal meadows, iconic architecture, windswept grasses, and some pretty incredible sunsets, the setting does so much of the work for you.
I’m especially lucky to call this stretch of the coast home. I split my time between Sonoma County and Gualala, where I have a home just about 15 minutes from the Lodge. That means I know the area, the changing coastal light, and plenty of beautiful places to photograph nearby. The Sea Ranch Lodge gives you so much to work with, and honestly, you don’t have to go far to completely change the look of your photos. You’ve got the dramatic coastline, open meadows, windswept grasses, beautiful architecture, towering cypress trees, and those endless Pacific Ocean views. It’s rugged and refined all at the same time, which is very Sea Ranch.
One of my favorite things about a Sea Ranch Lodge wedding is how naturally everything flows. You can have this incredibly beautiful, elevated wedding without it ever feeling overly formal or fussy. There’s something about being out on the coast that makes everyone relax a little, breathe in that salty air, and just enjoy being there.
And when the coastal light decides to show off, it REALLY shows off. Give me 15 minutes around golden hour and we can wander out toward the bluffs, let the wind do its thing, watch the sun drop toward the Pacific, and create some pretty incredible photos without disappearing from your wedding for an hour.

Grace and Sarah’s Thursday wedding at The Sea Ranch Lodge was intimate, relaxed, incredibly beautiful, and such a good reminder that you really don’t need a lot to create an unforgettable wedding day.
They kept things simple. Their favorite people, a few beautiful flowers, an incredible stretch of the California coast, and a whole lot of love. And honestly, Sea Ranch did the rest.
We wandered around the Lodge, taking advantage of the beautiful architecture, open coastal landscape, windswept grasses, and those incredible Pacific Ocean views. Everything is so close that we could create completely different looks without ever having to disappear from the celebration for long.
And because apparently the Pacific wanted in on the celebration too, during cocktail hour whales started breaching just offshore. I mean… come on. Only at Sea Ranch.
What I loved most about Grace and Sarah’s wedding was how much the day simply felt like them. Nothing overly complicated or rushed. They had time to be together, laugh with their people, soak it all in, and actually enjoy being married while I documented the big moments, the little ones, and everything happening in between.
And then Sea Ranch gave us one heck of a golden hour to finish it all off. We snuck away toward the bluffs for a few portraits as that beautiful coastal light came through, and it was the perfect ending to an already pretty incredible day.
Grace and Sarah’s wedding was simple, heartfelt, and ridiculously beautiful. Exactly the kind of wedding that reminds me why I love being a Sea Ranch Lodge wedding photographer and why I’ll happily photograph weddings along this little stretch of the California coast again and again.

Ocean Meadow
Ocean Meadow is one of those spots that feels like pure Sea Ranch. Wide open coastal grasses, dramatic bluffs, and nothing but the Pacific stretching out behind you. It’s beautiful without needing anything added to it. I love bringing couples out here for a few relaxed portraits, especially as the light starts to soften toward the end of the day. Add a little coastal wind and that Sea Ranch golden light, and Ocean Meadow pretty much does the rest.
Bluff Trail toward Bihler Point / Black Point
The Bluff Trail is where you really get that iconic Sea Ranch coastline. Winding paths, windswept grasses, rugged cliffs, and endless Pacific Ocean views make it such a beautiful place to sneak away for a few portraits. Heading toward Bihler Point or Black Point gives us plenty of variety along the way without anything feeling overly posed. Just walk, take in the view, let the wind do its thing, and I’ll take care of the rest.
The Lodge architecture itself
The architecture at The Sea Ranch Lodge is a huge part of what makes this place so special. The weathered wood, clean lines, big windows, and simple modern design blend right into the surrounding landscape. I love using the Lodge itself as a backdrop because it gives us something completely different from the ocean and open meadows while still feeling unmistakably Sea Ranch. Modern, understated, and effortlessly cool.
