If you’re searching for a beautiful wedding venue in Sonoma County, it’s hard not to fall in love with The Barn at Gambonini Family Ranch in Petaluma. With sweeping countryside views, rustic charm, and plenty of room to celebrate with family and friends, it’s easy to see why so many couples choose this iconic Petaluma wedding venue.
Erin and Justin’s wedding day was a perfect example of everything that makes a Gambonini Family Ranch wedding so special.
After years together and raising three wonderful children, these two finally gathered their favorite people to celebrate the next chapter of their story. Their wedding wasn’t just about two people getting married. It was about family, commitment, and the life they had already built together.
Like many summer weddings in Petaluma, the day brought plenty of sunshine and more than a little wind. The bright afternoon light and gusty conditions kept everyone on their toes, but those challenges are often what make a wedding day feel real. Rather than fighting the conditions, we embraced them, creating photographs that reflected the energy and authenticity of the day.
My approach to wedding photography has always been rooted in storytelling. While I absolutely love creating beautiful portraits and editorial-inspired images, I’m equally focused on documenting the moments that naturally unfold. The laughter between friends, the quiet glances between family members, the unexpected moments that can’t be recreated later, those are the memories that truly tell the story of a wedding day.
Erin and Justin’s gallery became a blend of both worlds: timeless portraits and genuine documentary moments that captured the feeling of being there.
One of the things I loved most about this wedding was how much heart went into every detail. Family and friends played a huge role in bringing the day together. The florals were thoughtfully created by loved ones. Guests gathered under the warm Petaluma sun, sharing stories, laughter, and plenty of hugs throughout the celebration.
The vendor team helped keep the energy high all day long. The food was delicious, the drinks kept flowing, and Train Wreck Junction had guests filling the dance floor. The DJ seamlessly carried the celebration from one moment to the next, creating an atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable letting loose and having fun.
And then there was the soft serve ice cream.
As a wedding photographer, I attend a lot of weddings every year, but I have to admit that a soft serve station instantly earns bonus points in my book. It was a huge hit with guests and, if I’m being completely honest, I may have enjoyed more than one serving while documenting the festivities.
By the end of the evening, surrounded by their children, family, and friends, Erin and Justin’s wedding felt exactly as a wedding should feel: joyful, relaxed, meaningful, and completely true to who they are.
