Olympia’s Valley Estate is a photographer’s dream: the rolling hills of Sonoma County, that late spring light, the wide open sky. I’ve photographed weddings all over Sonoma and Napa County, but something about Marissa and Seye’s golden hour portraits in May felt straight out of a movie.
We carved out time between the ceremony and reception to sneak away into the fields just as the sun was dipping low. The light was rich and glowing—soft enough to feel intimate, golden enough to make everything shimmer. It was the kind of sunset that asks you to slow down, and we did just that. Their connection, their laughter, the way Marissa’s gown caught the light—it was all magic.
But the celebration didn’t stop there.
Marissa and Seye surprised their guests with an outfit change, honoring Seye’s Nigerian heritage with a second look that brought culture, tradition, and serious style to the evening.
