How to Choose the Best Location for Your Senior Portrait Session

Living in Sonoma County, there is no shortage of natural beauty. Whether it’s the vineyards, or the coastline, or the redwoods – we’ve got the most remarkable range of beautiful places in our own backyard. But, every once in a while a specific spot will really stand out to me during a session. Sometimes it’s the emotional connection my client has with the location. Sometimes it’s the majesty of the location itself. And sometimes it’s both.

This senior session in the Grove of Old Trees was a both moment for me. Makeely had a deep connection to it, and the setting was truly breathtaking. We were nestled in a grove of huge redwood trees, surrounded by ferns and sparkles of sunlight that spilled through the branches. It’s the kind of location that will leave you awestruck.

I absolutely loved shooting here with Makeely. The natural and woodsy surroundings were such a fun contrast to the soft, flowy dress she wore. The shots with the towering trees behind her, and the soft light peeking through the branches are some of my favorites.

Congratulations to Makeely! And thank you for introducing me to such a magical place.
