Being a creative, I find myself drawn to other creative people. It’s kinda like being in a club where everyone is welcome, but you have to be a little weird and willing to listen to members brainstorm ideas about paint colors, lighting, the best pencils to draw with, grammar apps, etc. We’re a fun bunch, with lots of brain tabs open at once.
Every art form is different, which is why I love working with clients who create in a way that’s different from my method. Take a traditional artist for example. A canvas, paintbrush and palette of paints does’t speak to me the same way it does to my dear friend Katherine. She transforms that blank white canvas into something beautiful for others to enjoy. I think every creative person – writers, photographers, painters, calligraphers, etc – provides a gift to the world. They create for others. That’s not to say we don’t find joy in our craft. But, when we paint a picture, or hand letter an event sign, or write a book, we are creating for the enjoyment of others. It’s a beautiful act of service that fills us up as well.
Now, back to my incredibly talented artist friend. Katherine and I had the best time taking some studio shots of her and her work. It’s always helpful to have a solid headshot and some professional photos of your art. You, and your work deserve to be celebrated. And a photo shoot is the perfect way to do that!
