Let’s be honest. Family photos come with a few expectations.

Mom wants one really good photo where everyone looks great. Dad is hoping the whole thing doesn’t take too long. And the kids mostly want to run around and have fun. Luckily, as a Healdsburg family photographer, I specialize in making all three happen.

I bring a lot of energy, a sense of humor, and just enough direction to keep things moving without making anyone feel stiff or awkward. Being voted class clown growing up turned out to be surprisingly useful training for family photography.

I read the room quickly, keep the kids engaged, help everyone relax, and somewhere in the middle of all that fun we create photographs that actually feel like your family.

Not overly posed. Not forced. Just real moments, beautiful light, and the people you love most.

My Approach

Family sessions with me are relaxed, playful, and just a little bit unpredictable in the best way.

Kids are not expected to sit perfectly still or smile on command. In fact, I prefer when they don’t. Some of the best photos happen in the in-between moments when kids are being their curious, silly, energetic selves.

My job is to guide things just enough while letting your family be exactly who you are.

I pay close attention to what is happening in front of me. I can usually tell within a few minutes if your kids need space to move, if dad is ready to wrap things up quickly, or if mom is quietly hoping for just one frame where everyone is looking and smiling.

We will walk, play, explore, and move around our location so no one feels stuck standing in one place. I may give small prompts or suggestions, but nothing that feels stiff or overly posed.

Think of it less like a formal photo session and more like a fun walk together where I happen to have a camera.

Along the way I am watching for the moments that matter most. The hugs. The laughter. The way your kids reach for you. The personality that makes your family uniquely yours.

And of course we always pause for that classic everyone looking photo too. Because someday that one will matter just as much as the playful ones.

Family Portrait Pricing

All portrait sessions—including families and maternity—are priced at $695.

Includes:

Up to one hour of portrait photography with natural or studio light
You’ll receive your full proof gallery and select your favorite 20 images to be artistically retouched and delivered as high-resolution digital photos with printing rights. Additional images may be purchased for in-depth retouching
Sonoma County location options + style guide
A $300 non-refundable retainer is required at booking to secure your session date. A travel fee applies for locations more than 30 minutes outside of 95405.

Weekend Session Fee: + $200

To accommodate the high demand for weekend sessions, I offer a limited number of appointments on the weekends. A weekend session fee of $200 applies to cover the additional scheduling flexibility required. Please note that weekends are mainly reserved for larger events and weddings, so availability for standard sessions are very limited.

Weekday sessions are always available at standard rates, so if your schedule allows, I encourage booking during the week for the best availability
