If you’re searching for a wedding venue that feels relaxed, romantic, and full of heart, Flying Cloud Farm in Petaluma is pure magic. Alexa and Kasey’s fall wedding here was everything I love about photographing in Sonoma County — sweet, colorful details, heartfelt moments, and a couple whose love radiates in every frame
A Colorful Celebration Filled With Meaning
From the moment I arrived, every corner of this wedding reflected Alexa and Kasey’s joy and creativity. The floral palette was bursting with soft peaches, coral pinks, and buttery yellows — the perfect contrast to the rustic charm of Flying Cloud Farm. Their pup, Luke, trotted alongside them the entire day (truly my kind of people!), and it was clear how deeply connected and loved they are by everyone around them.
A Private First Look & Vow Reading
Before the ceremony, Alexa and Kasey shared a quiet first look tucked away in the trees. It was such a tender moment — just the two of them reading their vows privately, soaking in the emotions before the celebration began. It set the tone for the rest of the day: calm, intentional, and filled with heart.
Wedding Party & Family Portraits Before the Ceremony
After their first look, we rolled right into family portraits and wedding party photos. The lighting was beautiful, and having those formal photos finished early meant the couple could fully relax and be present for the rest of their day. This timeline flowed perfectly — everything wrapped up before guests arrived, giving Alexa and Kasey a few peaceful minutes together before walking down the aisle.
A Joyful Ceremony
Their ceremony was emotional and heartfelt, surrounded by the golden hues of Petaluma’s countryside. Family and friends gathered under the warm autumn light as Alexa and Kasey exchanged vows filled with love, laughter, and a few happy tears. It was one of those moments where you could feel the joy radiating from everyone around them.
A Relaxed Cocktail Hour
Once the “I do’s” were said, the newlyweds joined their guests for cocktail hour — such a treat since most couples miss that part! I captured group photos, genuine laughter, and all the candid little moments that make this time so special. And the highlight? The Oyster Girls were there, shucking fresh oysters on the spot — such a fun and delicious touch that had guests gathering, laughing, and savoring the experience. It was the perfect way to kick off the celebration before dinner and dancing began.
Golden Hour Magic
As dinner service began, we snuck away for a few quiet minutes to capture sunset portraits — and wow, the light was epic. The sun dipped low over Petaluma’s rolling hills, wrapping them in that golden glow photographers dream about. It was warm, cinematic, and one of those fleeting moments that you can feel through every image.
Dinner, Toasts & a Night of Celebration
After the sun slipped behind the hills, Alexa and Kasey rejoined their guests for dinner under twinkle lights. The evening flowed beautifully with heartfelt toasts, their first dance, and the sweetest cake cutting — all surrounded by laughter, love, and their pup Luke snoozing contentedly at their feet. It was the perfect ending to a truly joyful day.
