When Lillian and Jonathon chose the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena for their wedding, they picked one of Napa Valley’s most iconic and more affordable venues in the area— and it could not have been a better fit for their fun, food-loving personalities. As their Napa Valley wedding photographer, I had the joy of capturing every heartfelt moment, architectural detail, and celebratory toast.
Getting Ready in Historic Style
The CIA’s warm, wood-paneled rooms were the perfect setting for those pre-ceremony moments — tying ties, slipping into the dress, and sharing quiet conversations before the whirlwind began. Lillian’s gown, with its flowing botanical print, looked right at home against the stone walls and vintage light.
Ceremony in the Courtyard
The couple exchanged vows in the ivy-covered courtyard, surrounded by family and friends. Napa Valley’s golden light filtered through, while the venue’s historic stone façade created a backdrop that felt like it belonged in a European vineyard.
Portraits That Tell the Story
From playful twirls under the red awning to group shots on the grand steps, we made full use of the CIA’s varied backdrops. Lillian and Jonathon’s portraits in the vineyard at golden hour were pure magic — soft light, rolling hills, and their relaxed joy shining through.
A Reception Full of Flavor
True to the Culinary Institute’s reputation, guests enjoyed not only incredible food but also thoughtful, personal touches. A cookie bar offered homemade favorites, and speeches were filled with laughter and happy tears. Under strings of bistro lights, the evening turned into a lively dance party — a perfect ending to a day filled with love and connection.
