There are few places as breathtaking as Holly’s Ocean Meadow in Fort Bragg, perched above the rugged Mendocino coastline. As a wedding photographer who adores capturing authentic love stories along the Northern California coast, I was thrilled to document (second shoot) Abra and Jisel’s wedding day here with the amazing Loren Hansen. Their celebration combined home-cooked meals, handmade details, and heartfelt community—a true reflection of who they are.
A Foggy Ceremony That Turned Into Magic
Their ceremony unfolded against a misty backdrop, the fog rolling in from the Pacific and wrapping the couple in a dreamy coastal glow. Abra and Jisel exchanged vows beneath a geometric arch, surrounded by loved ones, with the ocean just beyond the cliff’s edge. By the time the ceremony ended, the fog began to lift, revealing the sweeping beauty of the meadow and sea—a gift of timing that felt nothing short of magical.
Food Made with Love
One of the most memorable elements of their wedding was the food. Instead of a traditional catered spread, their loved ones cooked a home-style feast: golden rotisserie chickens and a whole pig slow-roasted in a Cuban-style La Caja China box. It smelled incredible and tasted even better. Guests also enjoyed classic cocktails—refreshing Palomas, smooth Old Fashioneds, and local craft beers—while grazing on artisan cheese boards piled high with fruit, nuts, and spreads.
Handmade Details & Pops of Color
Abra and Jisel poured their creativity into the details. Inside the tent, guests were welcomed by hundreds of paper cranes and willow trees crafted by hand, suspended like a canopy of color above the dance floor. The property was alive with vibrant touches, from bold florals to whimsical decorations.
They also created a guest card station with sweet illustrations, where friends and family could leave love notes. A playful photo stand invited guests to snap Polaroids and hang them on a wire display—instantly building a gallery of shared joy.
Candid Moments & Tender Touches
As a wedding photographer, my focus is always on capturing those genuine, fleeting moments. Abra and Jisel’s wedding was full of them—tender hugs, spontaneous laughter, and joyful tears. From guests savoring cocktails in the meadow to the couple’s loved ones tearing up during toasts, every detail reflected connection.
Dancing as the Sun Set
Once the fog gave way to golden light, the celebration flowed into an evening of dancing under the cranes. Abra and Jisel’s first dance radiated joy, their smiles lit up by the setting sun. Later, I whisked them out into the meadow for a few quiet moments together, where the glow of sunset framed their love beautifully against the wild Mendocino coast.
